This is a momentous time for solar energy. A new solar system is installed every 4 minutes in America. Panels are 99% cheaper than they were 30 years ago. The total solar capacity installed in the U.S. in 2013 will power nearly 1 million homes. And it’s easier than ever for you to go solar.
Mosaic seeks to empower people to join the transition to clean energy. We’ve just launched a New Year’s Resolution encouraging people to “Put Solar On It.” Take the pledge to put solar on your home, a building in your community, or wherever you think solar should be in 2014. Then, tell us where you need guidance. Mosaic is rolling out a series of tools to develop solar projects as well as expansions to our investment products in 2014. Take the pledge or sign up for an account and we’ll keep you informed.
The campaign is led by clean energy superstar and actor Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk in “The Avengers” and Academy Award nominee for “The Kids Are Alright”), who has pledged to put solar on his children’s school in New York. “I’m helping put solar on my kids’ school to save the school money and free up resources that will be aimed at their education instead of fossil fuels,” Mark Ruffalo explains, “We can also demonstrate the shining future that is now within our grasp. I love that Mosaic is making it possible for all people to participate in an economy meant for all — the solar economy. We are powerful.” Other pledges have come in from individuals across the nation, including from Atlanta, GA. Boston, MA, Charlotte, NC, Maui, HI, Pittsburgh, PA, Santa Fe, NM, and Woodbury, MN.
And remember, people are more likely to go solar on their home when other people in their community have also done it. If there’s a 10% increase in solar in a community, installation rates rise by over 50%. Tell your friends to take the pledge to Put Solar On It, then share and tweet your pledge with #PutSolarOnIt. You can also find more information on our facebook page. Whether you’ve been thinking about going solar and just haven’t done it or if you’ve never even considered it, 2014 is the year to put solar on it. Be your neighborhood solar trailblazer. You got this.
